Findings
On 10 Sept an announcement was made that a new species of human relative called Homo Naledi was discovered in a cave known as Rising Star in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in South Africa. The species also had human like features but had a tiny brain (the size of an orange). The discovery consisted of more than 1,550 numbered fossil elements. The special team who retrieved the fossils recovered parts of at least 15 individuals of the same species. The remains were found alone in this remote chamber in the absence of any other major fossil animals. The remains were intentionally disposed of there by Homo Naledi.
